I read an interesting article comparing Lincoln and Darwin. Did you know they were born on the same day in the same year? I didn't. Truth be told the only thing I know about Darwin is that he wrote "Origin of Species" promoting the theory of evolution and natural selection. I'm still on the fence about whether I completely believe in Darwinism. Maybe it's because I have a hard time with the idea that we evolved from monkeys. Call me close-minded for that...doesn't hurt me. I know much more about Lincoln than I do Darwin. He was self-taught, arguably the greatest President of the United States that has ever lived, his wife was nuts and on some level so was he. Anyway this article talks about the similarities these men shared other than a birthday. When I saw the title I couldn't help but think that these two men were on opposite sides of the spectrum so it grabbed my attention. They ARE on opposite sides of the spectrum but the gist of the article is that they both dramatically changed humanity in their own way. Darwin sparked a controversy that is still raging today. Creationism vs. Evolution. Lincoln freed the slaves and presided admirably over the Civil War. He of course lost his life because of the war. But he also was a great orator and politician. Below is a link to the actual article...it's really worth reading
