Earth emits Sound

There isn't a science section so I wasn't quite sure where to put this. I figured since I read it in the news this would best fit it. Our Earth emits a sound. I haven't heard it but scientists say that it sounds like chirps and whistles and is AWFUL. This sound is made by charged particles from the solar wind colliding with our magnetic field. The reason we can't hear it is because the ionosphere blocks it. This is called Auroral Kilometric Radiation.

Magic Mushrooms

Here's some food for thought! Most people know what happens when you take shrooms. You see stuff...it's usually pretty. A recent study suggests that people who took magic mushrooms (it was a controlled study just to let you know) felt better about themselves and the world around them. The drug that makes you feel this way is psilocybin. Medical researchers say that the drug could help people deal with alcoholism, drug dependence, and terminally ill patients.

North Pole could be ice-free this summer, scientists say:

The North Pole may be briefly ice-free by September as global warming melts away Arctic sea ice, according to the scientists from the Nationa Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colorado.

"We kind of have an informal better pool going around in our center and that betting pool is 'does the North Pole melt out this summer?' and it may well," said the center's senior research scientist, Mark Serreze.

It's a 50-50 bet that ...

Good Ol' Fashioned Light Bulb Extinction???

Apparently come 2012, the ordinary good ol' fashioned light bulb will be off the market! They are pushing the little twisty florescent bulbs down our throats which wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so expensive AND harmful! So.... I did a little investigation cuz that's what I do when something really annoys me! LOL. That video on YouTube, I BELIEVE, was when Clinton was still in office. If you want to read a more recent article regarding light bulbs and their inevitable "extinction" visit this ...
